![]() I literally ran a damning evidence down through tentative down to nothing while all the investigator did was chow on mystique the entire time ![]() you generate more mystique by painting than they can consume They always preferentially take mystique if there is one available when they complete their last mystique. So using Passion and Mystique is usually safe, but using Notoriety will frequently make even more Notoriety. And at least in my experience, when using the talent skill, I seem to produce more of what I use for the paintings. I've seen them grab Notoriety for the very fist card despite having Mystique on the board. ![]() Of course having a dozen Mystique on the board and one Notoriety puts the odds in your favor. I think the hunter has a semi-random chance to choose Notoriety over Mystique, it's definitely not 100% that he'll pick Mystique first. This repeated 4 or 5 times and I like to imagine my cult leader looking over his shoulder each time he wound down a painting and going "Is he gone yet? No? Dammit, get me more brushes." This has led to a case where I kept painting to keep a Notoriety card out of the hands of a hunter but if my Heart cultist wasn't fast enough the hunter would grab a Mystique and hang around for longer so I'd have to make another painting. Pretty sure they grab Mystique before Notoriety too and can only grab one card at a time. Hunters can't get their hands on Notoriety or Mystique while it's being used by a painting action. There should really be locations that can make you money or maybe add aspects to rites. I really hope they expand the locations part of the game. Before you even get near any evidence, you have to deal with a million levels of security, loyal fans and someone who's location is never public knowledge. I imagine it's like trying to charge Beyoncé with something. Way more mystique, but still some notoriety. How does painting make you immune to prosecution? I get notoriety from paintings all the time. nobody has any idea why youre doing what youre doing but god forbid you be the one who admits you dont understand publicly I have decided that the total immunity from prosecution painting provides represents your character becoming some kind of conceptual artist. I mean, it's probably nothing, but who knows? However, inasmuch as there was just a patch, this might be actual technical fuckery so if you notice these horrible streaks happening more often maybe report it. ![]() It's definitely why I will likely step away for a while after my first victory. The degree to which a good run can be abruptly ended by a couple of bullshit rolls is one of the most frustrating elements in both this and Sunless Sea and it contributes to a sense that the game is wasting your time. The strength does seem to matter.Īnd yeah, RNG fuckery like that is annoying as hell and I wish that Alexis Kennedy weren't quite as fond of RNG as he is. However, I do recommend only attempting this if you have high - say level 8+ - cards for the relevant lore. There is as chance that the rolls can go badly and create a hunter who's both Grim and an Idealist, which makes them immune to both Lores, but that's only happened to me once in many, many attempts. If a hunter is neither of those things, showing them that lore will give them one of those qualities, though you don't know which one (sometimes showing a virginal hunter Winter stuff will make them an Idealist, for example). ![]() The stronger the lore, the better the chance it has of working. If a hunter is Grim, showing them depressing Winter lore has a high chance to push them over the edge and turn them into a Lunatic ditto for if they're an Idealist and you show them Lantern lore. ![]()
